Makeup Must Haves

Feb. 21 GlamMe Workshop! The art of “Mastering My Makeup”

new mailchimpheader

Having a hard time getting that liner perfect?

Not sure how to find the right color foundation?

Where is the “Crease” and how do I make it even?

I can’t do that “Wing” thing?

Contouring!  Make My Nose Thinner!

Unleash4pageIf you have question similar to the above, than you might find our Feb. 21st “Unleash” GlamMe Workshop the answer of all answers! This isn’t a lecture, this is a “get your hands dirty” Makeup Adventure!  It’s my goal to tie every morsel of knowledge into your long term memory– and the only way to do that is by letting you “experience” everything.

“We sit around a table filled with Makeup & Mirrors.  I walk you through an entire Look step-by-step, where I first Demonstrate a technique on myself in a mirror and then guide the group as they recreate the same step on themselves!  People remember 20% of what they hear and 90% of what they do–So with this Workshop, I know they will leave the Glam Factory Doors both glamorous and fully capable of recreating that same look over and over again with endless variations of intensity and color…

–Alexa Prisco

Who is this workshop for?

This is the workshop for those who wish to Unleash their Inner Glamazon, but don’t quite have the techniques to do so!  You don’t quite know how to use your brushes, you’re unsure of which colors go together– and you are dying to know how to do a Smokey Eye!

for-Instagram-UNLEASHWhat Will We Learn?

This workshop starts in an interactive classroom setting focused on building your overall understanding of makeup.  Through several hands on activities, students will learn how to identify the characteristics of any product—allowing them to make informed choices when either putting on or buying makeup!  We then move into “product talk” (a “show and tell” of sorts) where everyone gets to talk about their own personal “must haves” and the why behind them–it goes without saying that Alexa will be sharing her coveted list of “must haves”.  The education portion finishes with a few activities designed to build both an understanding of brushes and how to use them!

What Kind Of Look Will We Do?

The real fun is moving into the “Lab” portion of the day.  The students sit around a table filled with makeup and mirrors, learninga comprehensive Signature Smokey Eyed look.  This look is something we call a “Skeleton Look”—essentially a framework or springboard for endless variations of intensities and colors. This lab is taught via “step and repeat” instruction, where Alexa first demonstrates a step on herself and then guides students as they recreate that very step on themselves.  Students will be given a “demo outline” where they are able to write down the products and techniques for each step, ultimately providing them with an entire road map to recreate the look again and again.

"IS a bella" by Morgan Heisler

Hello everyone! My name is Morgan Heisler. I’m 19 years old and from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’m here to share with you my journey through makeup artistry. I’ll tell you about before, during, and my amazing transformation after.

Before the Glam Academy:

As a recent high school graduate, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I decided the absolute last day I could on which college I was going to attend for the Fall 2013 Semester. I selected La Salle University, which was a more local choice. I enrolled as a Communications major hoping to excel in the Journalism field. On my first day during orientation, I couldn’t help but research schools that applied just for makeup. I’ve always had a big makeup collection and interest in learning more about it. I found myself trying new styles and practicing on my friends. Then, when I started to get a little better at it, my friends started asking me to their makeup for everyday and for special nights out. Makeup had always been a passion of mine, but I never thought that I’d be so hooked on the idea of becoming a makeup artist. I found the Glam Academy as one of the schools and it quickly grabbed my attention. I found myself so interested in the courses and learning from Alexi herself. I ended up withdrawing from La Salle University immediately after my orientation. The next thing I did was emailed the Glam Academy and reserved my spot as a student in the Semester 5 Class.

During the Glam Academy:

My first day of the Glam Academy really assured me that I made the right decision with following my dream as a makeup artist. Although I was nervous about my first day for being one of the youngest students, I felt comfortable within minutes. Since I graduated from both the basic and senior program, I learned things that I didn’t even know were common knowledge for makeup. Did you know that foundation has an oxidation pattern and that’s what determines how the color appears on the skin? I sure didn’t until I attended the Glam Academy! I was so fascinated by all of the information I was gaining just within my first hours. After you learn literally all there is to know about makeup, you jump right into hands on work. The whole environment of the Glam Academy really makes you feel like your exceling in your makeup skills and business. You learn different looks, how lighting affects the picture, how to fix makeup after you already applied it—literally everything. Then, you also learn how to run your own business. You skip over the counter girl at a makeup stand or working at a salon step, and branch off as your own individual. Alexa not only gave me knowledge and wonderful skills, but she gave me the confidence and motivation that I needed in order to realize that I could do this by myself. She made me see that I don’t need to work for someone else to become successful in this industry. Everything that I want to accomplish is now at my fingertips because of the help and guidance of Alexa.

After the Glam Academy:

Since I’ve graduated from the Glam Academy about 6 months ago, I am on a whole new level of success. I am now 19 years old and booking more clients than I imagined. I have booked over 20 girls from all different high schools in my area for the 2014 Prom Season, I’ve been planning a summer shoot for this upcoming August, and I’ve had requests about weddings and other special occasions as well. At such a young age, I never thought I’d be doing so well financially as a makeup artist and starting my own business. My brand name is IS a bella translating to “is a beauty,” and so far I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. When working with a client, my main goal is to have her feel beautiful and confident after leaving my chair. That’s why I’ve selected that specific brand name. I’ve gained so many clients and many others with much interest in having me do their makeup or even working with me. Since I earlier mentioned that school was a big part of my life, I made the decision to go back for my degree. I enrolled in a Community College as a Communication major again to try and tie my love for writing in, with my love for makeup. I also plan to go back to the Glam Academy this summer to take the Master’s course that is now offered to senior graduates.  As I finish up writing my journey for you, I am currently preparing for a trial I have for a prom this upcoming weekend. I couldn’t be happier with where I am in my life and how much success I’ve had in the last 6 months. Alexa really has helped me transform my whole future into something with so much more than potential. If it weren’t for the Glam Academy, my makeup career would be non-existent. I can’t wait to see where the rest of my years as a makeup artist will take me! I hope that you all enjoyed my story and that you will continue to follow up with me, and the rest of the alumni from the Glam Academy.

Erin Hendley of f.a.c.e. Makeup Artistry, LLC

Hello! My name is Erin Hendley, and I was a student in the very first Glam Academy course. If there is one thing I am addicted to, it is Makeup Education. Having previously attended Cosmetology School in Kentucky, Makeup school in Chicago, and another weeklong course in New York, I can confidently say there is one aspect about the Glam Academy that stood out from the rest of my institutes: Business Inspiration & Aspiration. I was already a working artist in NYC before attending Alexa’s Classes. Throughout the duration of enrollment at the Glam Academy, I focused on business branding, my signature style, how to be my own PR team, protecting myself legally, and how to handle difficult clients. These are the fundamentals that have taken me from an occasionally booked artist, to a fully booked artist at professional rates.Three years out from graduating the Glam Academy, I now own my own business, custom compacts, & brick and mortar studio in Kentucky. I owe Alexa’s motivational speeches for igniting a fire in me to nurse my business and constantly push my boundaries. She reminded me that I have to possess a certain amount of humility and establish a tough skin not only to be a successful business woman, but an ENTREPRENEUR! Feel free to keep up with me at f.a.c.e. Makeup Artistry, LLC! I’m constantly up to something new! -Erin1383546_477809458987158_1189423321_n 1978877_479451135489657_73570437_n unnamed 1504061_440122259422545_886700670_n (2008)

An Absolutely Dazzling Dream Brought to Life

An Absolutely Dazzling Dream Brought to Life

My name is Angelica Alberti & this is my story on how I became a Makeup Artist.

Starting out in cosmetology school in 2012 I learned that my true passion was makeup. Problem was that in the state of New Jersey, they only touch on about 3 days of makeup and you are pretty much just reading out of a book! Educating yourself by reading is great but I knew that if I really wanted to find out if I had what it took to be in the Industry of Beauty as a Makeup Artist I had to grab a brush and do some hands on work with a pro! That is when I signed up to be a student at the Glam Academy with Alexa Prisco. Making that first big step was super intimidating and I was so nervous because I had NO IDEA how to do makeup or what to expect.  I am here to tell you that the Glam Academy and Alexa Prisco have given me the best experience of my life!

Alexa really challenges you and brings out the best artist in you. She shows you that if you really work hard in her academy, you can go beyond a makeup counter. When I was going into Makeup I didn’t really know what I would do going out of it. I wasn’t sure if I was going to end up at a counter or a salon. Alexa and the Academy really shows you that the sky is the limit! You can customize your services and brand to whatever it is that would set you apart from other artists in the industry.

That leads me to, life after Glam Academy and Absolutely Dazzling (My Brand).. Of course its scary when you are officially out there on your own with plenty of competition. For me, I did not waste any time! I was trying to book clients immediately! I had my first Bridal Expo while I was I was finishing up the Academy and I still get calls to this day from brides from that expo. I learned on my own that patience was very important and to not give up if you are not getting calls right away!

Where am I now in my career? I can tell you that right now as I am typing this I am preparing to do Miss New Jersey USA Emily Shahs makeup for her send off tonight as she prepares to take the crown of Miss USA 2014! I have done work with CW’s PIX11 News and also Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, which I made it to CNNs home page for! I am also doing special events.. Anything that needs a little glam and I feel that it would benefit my name & resume, I’m there!

See some of my work here at www.absolutelydazzlingmakeup.com

Everyday I am working to get more exposure and a positive name for my brand! I look forward to blogging on here & sharing my journey with all of you! Make sure you check back for more entries from other me and other GA Graduates!

Stay Dazzling! xx

Beauty By Christina Isabella

Hi Everyone!

My name is Christina and I am recent graduate of Glam Academy. I just wanted to share with you a little bit about how Alexa absolutely changed my life.

I always had a love for make up and being glam but I didn’t know how to make it part of my life in a way that I could gain income. I actually went to college and graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts. When I graduated I started working a full time job. I was making good money but I was miserable. I knew that I couldn’t spend the rest of my life doing work that made me unhappy. I really looked inside myself and looked at what options I had in terms of doing something that made me happy but also gave me financial stability.

When I decided make up artistry was what I wanted to focus on, I researched all of the make up schools in my area and Glam Academy immediately stood out. I loved that it focused specifically on make up artistry and that it didn’t include hours of useless and boring information like a lot of the other schools I saw. What stood out to me the most was that it focused on me as my own brand and that it would give me the tools to create my own business and not work for some one else. When I decided to pursue make up as my career I thought that I would have to work at make up counter at a department store or a salon for years before I could ever branch out on my own. So when I saw that at Glam Academy, Alexa teaches you how to skip those steps and basically rocket launches you into independent success, I was amazed and knew that this was the school for me.

The transformation that I saw in myself throughout Glam Academy was amazing. I went from shaking trying to put winged eyeliner on to being able to put fake lashes on in a flash. Alexa taught me the fundamentals of make up so that I can now dissect and attack any look with confidence and ease. Not only did she teach me fundamentals but she took the time to go above and beyond and teach me how to create flawless make up so that when I work with photographers they see me as an asset because they have to do less editing in the end. This is something that definitely sets me apart from other make up artists in the industry. I also went from just having an idea of what to do for my success to fully having my own brand and business plan. She gave me the tools and steps that I needed to be completely independent and successful as a make up artist.

They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. That couldn’t be more true in my case. I absolutely love what I do and I never feel like I’m working but instead just living my dream. The hardest part about making your dream a reality is the first step and I am so happy and grateful that I took my first step with Alexa and her Glam Academy. (2183)

Here is a preview of some of my favorite portfolio images from our most recent Semesters students!

The Glam Academy was literally an idea I had.  I wondered why so many people wouldn’t tell “every” secret when they gave a demonstration on a particular look.  I wondered why there was no place when I started my business that could explain to me all the things that I spent years learning the hard way.  My only goal is to create a place where creative, passionate people with an interest in makeup can not only grow as artists, putting to good use all of their talents (even those outside of makeup), but also a place where I can make people understand that the road doesn’t end at a makeup counter.  They have the ability to be their own boss, pave their own road, and never stop learning or growing as an artist.  The only reason I know this program is a success is because of the immediate results I see in my students when they leave the program.  Students that within months have bustling business’s booked for months out.  It goes without saying that this is all dependent on the individual drive and passion of the student.  However, even with that in mind, I find it amazing just how passionate all of my students are.  Every update I have from Instagram is a testament to the transformative power of this program.  Every post I see from a past student simply demonstrates that your wildest dream can be a very possible reality.

Glam Academy Semester 6 Presents: 60’s Italian Vogue

This photoshoot was inspired by 1960's Italian Vogue and each student was not only responsible for the makeup-- but the entire vision.  Bravo Semester 5!

The Glam Academy has been more of a success than ever!  Semester after semester our students within months of graduating the program have flourished into full grown businesses– some booked out solid for two years.  One of our recent graduates was covered in an article by CNN doing makeup for fashion week!

The design of the program is unlike any other.  We help you identify those things about yourself that you don’t realize are specific to your own wealth of knowledge.  Meaning I grew up in a highly artistic environment– so the language of Jazz, artistic terminology, the way I observe shadow and light is something that is just normal to me.  And something I didn’t necessarily realize other people may not know.

IMG_9665

Discovering the things that you don’t realize you are passionate about and fusing that to your artistry allows you to create a brand and line of services that no one else has.

The Glam Academy builds you as an artist by allowing you to see the world of makeup through an artistic lens and breaks the “yes’s” and “no’s” we allow to mold our perception of makeup artistry.  Fusing that with those signature things about “you” that make you different from the rest of the world– we help you hone in on an untouched brand and market.  As quickly as your artistry develops so to does your business– essentially we fuse both the artist and the entrepreneur.  We identify your goals and show you just how much further you can go.

The student that leaves the program is not someone that has left a 90 hour program but an individual that has changed their course in life.  A person that has worked not only on Academy days, but on the days between working on independent assignments that build your artistry and understanding of business.

The entire year of Academy dates has been released.  We have a variety of schedules designed to fit anyone’s availability.  With 60% of our students out of state our “Intensive” program is identical to the Glam Academy in curriculum but is in two back to back weeks.

We have also recently release our Masters program which is exclusive to graduates of the Glam Academy.  This program advances and perfects your artistry and comes with a complimentary internship/ externship where the student is able to gain field experience by assisting at a variety of levels– observing, assisting, and actually doing makeup on clients. This creates a cushion and provides the students with actual experiences only further preparing them for their own business.

7 AM Enfant 212 Evolution Giveaway!

To all my Glammy Mommies!

Winter is hands down my favorite time of year!  And not only because my Edward Cullen skin gets to take a rest from the relentless UV rays, but also because it’s down time for makeup artists.  Its the time of year when business tends to slow down and as a glorious result I get to spend time doing the things I wish I had more time for during the rest of the year.

When I think of happiness I think of Winter.  For me it all of these wonderful small moments that I crave in the summer months.  It means making chilli for my husband and watching him splurge with a refill or two.  It means sitting on the couch with a cozy fleece blanket while McKayla plays with all of her Christmas goodies and Mommy and Daddy do a Netflix marathon of “that show” you never had time to watch.  It means indulging the DIY side of myself and saying “Yes I can use the George Forman Grille to make some grill lines in this construction paper for my handmade flower.”  It means that I get to indulge and enjoy the things that seem few and far between when things get busier.

Last winter Danny (“DH” to all you cornballs out there) and I went to Woodbury Commons for a day trip.  It was blistering cold and with a new baby most might think such a venture would be for the criminally insane.  But not us– because we had the “Le Sac Igloo” from 7am Enfant to keep our little Mikki beyond warm and cozy.  For us– going from store to store in 4 mile landscape of outdoor outlet shopping was a bit of a freezing venture.  But McKayla’s facial expressions leant the impression that she was in an entirely different climate.  And for parents– that is nothing short of an incredible testament to the product itself and the way it can change what you can and can not do.  Basically– if a product has the ability to transform your schedule, then in essence, it can change your life!

So as the months turned into a year and now McKayla is over 14 months old and double in length I couldn’t let one of our family adventures be without the absolute insulating warmth of a 7am product.  And this year its the 212 evolution.  This product is hands down the most versatile, warm, bunting solution for your little one.  And the fact that its extendable makes this little cocoon of fleece and micro down a product that is both relevant and usable for years to come– which is quite frankly a breath of fresh air in a world of baby trinkets that have a shelf life shorter than a loaf of bread.

So down to the nitty gritty.

Here is how the Giveaway works!  Can you just go to 7amenfant.com and 2nd day this bad boy because you simply cannot go another day seen in public with 7 blankets, 5 hats, a snow suit, and three mittens on your baby?  Absolutely.  But you can also let the rest of us get a little chuckle with a picture of your DIY baby bunting solution!  If your picture rises above the rest– you can win not only 212evolution bunting bag in the color and size of your choice, but matching Warm-Muffs!  Warm-muffs are basically these incredibly warm glove/ arm warming solution that attach to the stroller!

So this is precisely what you need to do:

1. Like the 7am Enfant Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/7AMENFANT

2. Like My Facebook Fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/officialglamfairy

3. Share the word of #7amenfant with your friends and family!

4. Follow on Instagram @7amenfant @alexaprisco

In all of the above please share a picture of precisely why you need this incredible product– by showing us a picture of how YOU keep your baby warm in the winter.

Make sure to hashtag #SOSmybabyneeds7amenfant!

Stay fabulous all my Glammy Mommies!
