gift-certificate

An experience can’t be wrapped. And while there is something beyond magical about opening a new handbag or gloves– the excitation in the moment is just that– momentary.  We offer gift certificates for a range of services designed to create an experience!  From special occasion makeup to a Glammy Puss Photoshoot, to the gift of The Glam Academy– dropping your loved one at The Glam Factory for a day of Glam filled fun with Alexa is something that will truly never be forgotten.

Special Occasion Makeup: Give you loved one a special occasion makeup application where they can come to The Glam Factory and get just makeup or makeup and hair for a night on the town!

Private Makeup Lesson: Let your loved one put that perfectly organized makeup collection to good use!  A private makeup lesson is offered at two levels:

Categories of Students:

  • “Glam-me” the girl that wants to learn how to perfect her own daily routine or master the smokey eye!
  • “MUA” (MakeUp Artist) this is the lesson is tailored to where the artist is and where they want to be– with a fusion of education designed to change the filter through which the individual understands makeup and a hands on lab where the student works on a model to perfect these skill sets– this is a gift that truly keeps on giving.

2-3 hour Private Lesson–

    • For the “Glam-me” these lessons are a combination of education and hands on activities.  With two mirrors and a table filled with makeup– the student and Alexa sit across from each other, face to face, where the student actually “mirrors” each step of whatever look the want to achieve (smokey, every day, natural etc.) until a full perfected face is applied.
    • For the “MUA” these lessons are tailored to the students artistic needs.  Using there strengths and weakness’s as a framework for the Itinerary– we develop looks designed to strengthen those techniques that need work.  With a lab where the student works on a model creating a comprehensive look that tests and perfects a variety of techniques– any artist at any level will leave with a new sense of confidence in their artistry.

Multiple Private Lessons:

We have packages available to those who crave more than just one lesson:

    • 2– two hour private lessons
    • 2– three hour private lessons

For more info on Private lessons please visit our Classes section: http://theglamfairy.com/classes-overview.html

Crash Courses: The crash course is offered to makeup artist’s that would like to spend anywhere from 6-10 hours with Alexa privately. During this time we will focus on where the artist is currently and the corresponding skill sets that will develop their technique, building true confidence in their ability to create a comprehensive look.

The Crash Course is the perfect outlet for either the aspiring makeup artist, or the makeup artist looking to freshen up their technique, to have an intense, hands on, lab oriented, private session with Alexa. Based on the hour amount of the crash course and the overall speed of the student, we pack in a variety of activities designed to change the way the individual understands both makeup and its ability to transform a client. In any crash course one will find themselves immersed in a variety of the below activities:

  • Education based on understanding makeup through color, shadow, light, product development, production intention etc.
  • Kit Building– Learning the “must haves” for any artist and building your kit for speed.
  • Chemical Recognition– Learning how to identify particular chemical bases in products.
  • Labs– The student applies the education by creating a look designed to strengthen those skill sets that the particular student identifies as weakness’s.
  • Photoshoot for Portfolio: Alexa does a photoshoot of the model– giving the student not only images for their portfolio but a true understanding of how their work translates on camera. With this understanding, the student can tailor their technique to meet the needs of modern technology.
  • Multiple Looks– Based on the amount of time booked and the overall speed of the student– we can book two models, allowing the student to develop two looks, and therefore have two images for their portfolio.

Multiple Crash Courses can be booked. If the curriculum parallels that of The Glam Academy– the student can be certified if they meet 40 hours privately.  A Certificate of Completion is distributed to anyone booking over 8 hours AFTER submitting homework assignments designed to perfect particular skill sets.

Glam Academy Semester 5: Fall Photoshoot

We are now in the final days of fifth semester of The Glam Academy.  One of the first shoots for the Senior portion of the program focuses on all of the beautiful jewel tones in both fabric and makeup trending whenever the leaves turn crispy and golden.  With eyes having an ombre effect of deep to light bronzes, cheeks “flush” with color isolated on the apples, and deep wine glossy lips– these looks show the students artistic ability to stay relevant to what is trending while still preserving a timeless nature of the composition as a whole.  These photo’s are my favorite of each photoshoot.  Enjoy!

Fresh Off the Crawlway– McKayla in her Baby Headbands

Image

I recently shot a little web clip for Jerseylicious showing off McKayla in many of her baby headbands!  They wanted some still shots to insert throughout and asked me if I could take a few!  I saw this as the perfect opportunity to test out my photography skills for a subject very much in motion!

Enjoy!

Sunday-Fun Photo’s of McKayla:)

After a very early wedding this morning (rise and shine at 5 am) my creative juices were still flowing when I came home.  With an “under the weather” hubby (common cold), we kept a day we normally reserve for some sort of small adventure within the walls of our apartment.  And to me I couldn’t think of it as a more perfect time for a mini photo-shoot of McKayla.  I recently upgraded to the Canon 5d Mark II with a 24-70 lens– and while I have used this paired with a ring flash, time and time again for my Glam Academy photoshoot’s– I haven’t really tested its natural light capabilities.  I know ridiculous.  In any event, after many failed attempts I finally found the perfect combination of settings to show off my daughters gorgeous blue eyes.  Granted I am no Timothy White– but I think these are pretty good for my first venture with this camera and lens in natural light.  Enjoy!

Fall Into Fall Trends Without Falling On Your Face. Literally.

The “must have’s” for the mommies living in the real world!

For each season, I scour the internet for my “favs”– a few pieces worth investing in that pay homage to the current trend, but won’t gather dust for the years to come.  I focus on pieces that are made well and help me preserve my own sense of style.

As a new mother I can count the days I have worn heels since I became pregnant on two fingers.  After I had McKayla, I decided that unless I am actually doing makeup, I will do anything “business” related at home.  After an “Ah-ha” moment, I pushed my dining room table into my closet and made my life as a mother, wife, business owner, blogger etc. “work”, well more like “merge”.

Long story short, I was moving into this apartment well before I met Danny and the damage was already done– the third bedroom was turned into a California Closet.  Fast forward two years and McKayla’s toys and various space consuming objects had a viral like consumption of our apartment– I had no choice but to hybrid this sanctuary.

I digress– In the moments I am actually sitting at my computer (any given email includes roughly 15 sprints into the living room to fix a binky, grab juice, put “Gabba” on– you know the drill) I find myself staring at my wall of heels.  Well lit, dusted, and on freshly cleaned glass IMG_0388

Alexa's Closet

— they are undoubtedly well preserved.  But that is all they are– “preserved.”  When am I going to wear a 155mm Louboutin Pigalle?  To pick up dog poo?  To wipe vomit off my shirt? No.

That said, as a new mom I think it is possible to stay current and relevant– even if you lift more in a given day than a heavy weight champion.

Boots: For me, heels are unfortunately a thing of the past.  I look at the Paparazzi pics of moms in YSL double platform pumps, full makeup, and a $4,000 jacket pushing their carriage down Madison Ave. and I just don’t get it.  For those of us pushing our kid through Target feverishly spinning the “Target Cartweel” for an extra 5% on Huggies– heels are the least of our concern.  We tend to focus more on getting through one store without a poo poo diaper, a crying fit, or some strange injury that occurred within the perimeter of the shopping cart.

That said for this season everything is “Moto”– whether it be pairing some hard leather piece and softening it up with a chunky LAMade sweater or going full blown Sons of Anarchy– having something that looks like it should be within ten feet of Harley seems to be the trend of the season.

Frye Jenna Disc

Frye Jenna Disc

I have made two purchases this Fall that make more than enough sense for any mom on the go.  I recently purchase the Frye Jenna Disc. from Amazon.com– and what’s even better is that when you sign up for the shoe email you can get 20% off and free shipping!  What’s better than that!  If  you take a look at these beauties they have that old sweatshirt quality in texture– worn in and cozy.

These are not my first Frye purchase either.  This brand is over 100 years old and have unparalleled craftsmanship.  This is a boot that can “Moto” up any outfit– be it jeans and a blazer, leggings and a sweater, or your husbands t-shirt and PJ pants (my blogging wardrobe of choice).

IMG_2563 Well, after I purchased these boots I happened to be on the hunt for the perfect parka and I came across a picture of Kate Beckinsale that haunted me!  What were those damn boots she had on? I searched and I searched and either I am Pinterest-illiterate or there was not one article or link to the brand for either the boots or the parka.  As I continued my search, I took the parka out of the picture and focused on the boots—googling “Kate Beckinsale Boots” in various forms over and over again.  Did I keep seeing these glorious boots over and over again, transforming endless simple outfits?  Yes.  White tank top and black leggings, spring dress, shorts, winter coats –they worked with everything!  Did I find the brand?   IMG_2555 No.  It tortured me.  I mean it could be that its Kate Beckinsale in them, but it could also be that these boots are just awesome!

FINALLY I came across the brand– Fiorentini and Baker.  And they are just as difficult to buy.  I eventually tracked them down at the actual F+B store in downtown Manhattan and ordered them over the phone.  At $620 these are pricey for any mom.  Well not ANY mom– I’m sure some housewife of something has them in every color.  Cheers to marrying old men for money! But for the rest of us– this is a purchase you hide.

Here was my rationalization– If Kate Beckinsale can wear them with everything for what seems like year round, than I can.  It also seemed like she was constantly walking in them– which says to me who skims 5 feet that I can do my normal baby trekking with a little more height!

Of course before I bought them I did a week’s worth of “should I?” but then I spotted someone in them!

“Omg are those Fiorentini and Baker?” me

“Yes!  I got them like 10 years ago!  Aren’t they great!” random person

This sealed the deal for me.  I would officially be “in” with my moto-esque boots but also have a staple for my wardrobe for years to come. Continue reading (58883)

Glammy Mommy– My look for summer

Glammy Mommy by Alexa Prisco

My favorite product in this entire set would undoubtedly be the OLD GRINGO boot– these boots are truly incredible as they have much more pizzaz than the classic cowboy boot cut.  They also comes in all different styles and cuts!  Some with embellishments, some with embroidery, studs, and sparkle– old gringo is a surefire way to be a Glammy Mommy!

Spring into Summer with The Glam Academy!!!

The fourth semester of the Glam Academy (Hoboken, NJ Makeup School) will be starting this August.  This is after three semester’s of successfully transforming people with either an interest in makeup or makeup artists looking to refine their skills into full blown entrepreneurs!  Each of these artist’s have taken their own independent interests and passions and fused that with their love of makeup– creating lines of services drastically different from one another.  Whether it be a play on language, a specialization in cultural makeup, or catering services to a particular demographic (kids, teenagers, older women)– the Glam Academy students have created businesses that answer WHY someone will come to them instead of someone else!  Each of these students continue to impress me daily by utilizing the full gamut of social media– truly understanding the capacity it has to fuel the exposure of a business.

Please feel free to research these highlighted students and see the incredible stamp they have left on the internet
