I am so excited to be a mother! It was scary at first I must admit. It seemed like I was just getting used to being engaged and within a month I found out I was pregnant! I don’t care what anyone says– finding out you are pregnant is super scary!! I have always been a person that could over-ride any insecurity by educating myself but it doesn’t matter how many books you read or documentaries you watch– there is no crystal ball that can predict what you will personally encounter not only in the duration of your pregnancy– but when your baby is born.

I feel like our own personal evolution during pregnancy is fascinating! The days of sheer fear and anxiety seemed to end quickly and slowly but surely I became more and more comfortable with the idea of being a mom! Of course that was between day long marathons of “morning” sickness– i.e. “every waking second of the day” sickness.
I am now 7 1/2 months pregnant and I literally have a countdown of our first daughter’s birthday, November 24 2012, right near the door! Every day I am one 24 hour block closer to meeting our little bundle of happiness.
This Sunday is my baby shower and my incredible event planner Kim Myl from Lulu’s inspirations www.lulusinspirations.com has made every little detail so absolutely amazing! From the custom scratch off cards, to the candy bar, to the Alice and Wonderland cupcakes– I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning to come!
I am so truly happy to be able to share in this journey with all of you. I have so many questions as a new mom and from what I have just observed thus far there is such a wonderful and powerful sense of community with moms!

Congratulations! I thought this day would never come. I am a straight shooter, just as you. I used to be so deeply bothered by the behavior between the ladies of the Gatsby leading to the eventual split. We sista’s have to stick together and represent with our best! However, the change in you is amazing!
I have watched you peel away your fears, as the petals of a rose. I too am a bit of a control freak and had a salon. However, I was compelled, and I believe called of sorts, to nursing. I actually fell in love with Anatomy. I became a trauma/ICU RN, then manager. I have never regretted it, but do continue to maintain my skills at home. I think I would like to return to the salon when I retire.
Motherhood, yes, very intimidating, but liberating just the same. Do be watchful of the “motherhood myth” that we all are born with this inate ablility to be the perfect, pleasant ideal wife and mother on two hours sleep for months. However, you will adjust and having the loving support of a true companion will only double your joy!

Alexa I am so excited for you, I would just like to say you are my idol. I am 19 years old and I am about to enter Cosmetology school I am striving to become the best cosmetologist I can be. I wish to have my oen sort of Glam Factory when I am older and I would just like to say you have made it possible for me to beleive in my dreams and goals. You are such an amazing person and role model to me and I cant imagine a better person to have a baby girl. That little girl is going to be the glamiest baby of all time! so excited for you. Enjoy that baby! And for heaven’s sake, treasure that husband of yours. Danny is so thoughtful and sweet and obviously adores you. He is really something special, very rare among men. And you deserve him, so just make sure you make him feel as treasured as he makes you feel, and you will have a great life together. Best of luck with your new beautiful girl!
